The task of the Estonian Defence League Museum is to collect, preserve and present the history of the Estonian Defence League. The Defence League Museum was established on 21 May 1998, with Olavi Punga as the head of the museum at the time. Since 2006, the museum operates under Tanel Lään as a structural unit of the Public Relations Department of the Headquarters of the Defence League.
Tanel Lään has prepared exhibitions about the founder of the Estonian Defence League, Admiral Johan Pitka, the first Commander of the Estonian Defence League, General Ernst Põdder, the War of Independence, and Commander of the Estonian Defence League, Major Benno Leesik, Captain Tõnu Piip, the service of the military servicemen of Estpla-10 in Iraq, the service of the members of the Estonian Defence League in territorial defence and on peacekeeping missions. In April 2009, the museum opened the exhibition “Symbols of the Estonian Defence League 1925–1940”, and in July the exhibitions “Arms in the 19th century” and “World War I”.
